An Investigation of the Need for Professional Development of Science Educators: A Response to the Next Generation Science Standards Movement to Adopt Engineering
PI: Wade Goodridge, PhD
Co-PI: Kurt Becker, PhD
The work looks to develop a survey for secondary education science teachers to inform academia of their perceptions regarding the need for professional development and training in engineering. It is in answer to the Next Generation Science Standards push to include this subject area in science teachers' existing curriculum. Professional development would be organized and situated around engineering knowledge, and applications and will facilitate the development of curriculum that teachers could incorporate into their existing science courses. The survey instrument will reflect science educators desire for such training as well as to what areas they would specifically like to have training in.
